You can buy utilities separately By which the capacity of the operating system will increase. Some utilities are web-based utility services. You pay an annual fee to use them... which allows you to access the web and use utility programs. McAfee and Norton provide web-based utility services.

File Compression

File compression utilities are used to compress file sizes. This saves storage media space... because compressed files take up less storage space than original files. This results in increased system performance. Compressed files usually have the extension ZIP...also known as 'zip files'. When you receive a compressed file... you must uncompressed it. To uncompressed or unzip you restore it to its original form. PkZip and WinZip are two types of popular stand-alone file compression.

Uninstaller

A utility called an uninstaller... which is an application and removes file strings associated with this application from your system files. When you install an application... The operating system then records the information... which is used to run software in system files. If you remove the application from your computer by deleting the files and folders associated with the program without running the uninstaller. Even so, system file strings remain on your computer. Most operating systems have an uninstaller.

Disk Scanner

Screen Saver

A screen saver is a utility that, if there is no keyboard or mouse activity for a period of time... Then the screen saver produces a moving image or blank screen on the monitor screen. When you press a key on the keyboard or move the mouse... the screen returns to the previous display image once again. Screen savers are popular for protection in business or entertainment. To protect your computer you can configure a screen saver... so that a user must type their password to close the screen saver and re-display the previous image.

Disk Defragment

This utility recognizes files and unused space on the computer's hard disk... so that the operating system can access data more quickly. This is called 'disk defragmentation'. When the operating system stores data on the disk... it stores the center data previously stored on the disk. Although attempts are made to store data in its contiguous or nearby sectors.....but this is not always possible. When a file spans over two or more contiguous centers... the file is fragmented. Fragmentation slows down disk access and overall computer performance. Disk defragmentation solves this problem and files are stored in continuous sectors.
